This National Academy of Sciences study aims to use a network-based method for measuring worker skills, using data from an online freelance website. The study shows that workers with diverse skills earn higher wages than those with more specialized skills. The researchers distinguish between two different types of workers : jacks-of-all-trades, whose skills can be applied independently on a wide range of jobs, and synergistic workers, whose skills are useful in combination and fill a hole in the labor market. The report details the necessary planning and resources for the implementation and maintenance of a training and development program. It aims to assist agencies in implementing ICT-supported training programs. TRB / 2017
This summary of the TRB Symposium, part of NCHRP 20-113A, was written by the Principal Investigator: CAVita. The objective of this research project was to support a TRB Symposium on Transformational Technologies Affecting Transportation. The summary details symposium highlights, sites principles for accelerated research and collaboration, as well as research priorities and next steps. It also includes a section of the symposium partners and research, and TRB roundtables. CAVita / 2017
This synthesis documents how state and local transportation agencies are using information and communication technologies (ICT) to train their workforce. The report explores the planning and resources required to implement and maintain a training and development program and assists agencies that are considering ways to implement, improve, or expand ICT-supported training programs.
